The Ego Check
Welcome to The Ego Check. I’m Glenda Lee Goce Macatangay—Babaylan , healer, artist, organizer, educator, mother and creator of My Healing Language. This is a space where we sit with the complexity of healing, the weight of lived experience, and the power of love. We live in a world that conditions us to disconnect—from ourselves, from each other, from the land, from the wisdom of our ancestors. But healing—radical healing—requires that we remember. That we disrupt. That we reclaim. Our ego moves in ways that protect us, yes—but also in ways that keep us from our deepest truths. And so, together, we ask: How do we shift? How do we move beyond survival toward liberation?

Host: Glenda Macatangay
Guest: Felicia Gangloff-Bailey
Felicia holds space in a way only a mother who has loved through loss can. In this tender offering, we talk about motherhood beyond the veil, ancestral presence, and how we mother our angels as they continue to mother us. This one is for every parent who carries love that never dies.

Karega brings deep spirit and rhythm to this conversation on trust, what it feels like in the body, how we hold it in community, and the frequency it offers us when we lean in. We talk about grief, music, and the sacred practice of showing up, again and AGAIN, IN LOVE.

This one brought tears, laughter, and the kind of deep breaths that come from truth-telling. In Episode 2, Blended, Not Broken, I sit down with the fathers of my children to have the conversation most families avoid. We unpack the real journey of becoming a twice blended family—not the picture-perfect kind, but the kind held together by honesty, forgiveness, and love that refuses to quit. From co-parenting through conflict to checking our egos at the door, this episode is a raw, unfiltered look at what it takes to build something whole from pieces that once felt broken.
